Crashers

Saturday, September 24th, 2005

I’ve recently rented the movie Crashers. What is it about? Well it’s about everything that is wrong in America, all the violence, corruption, racism and stereotypes, but every cloud has a silver lining.  Meaning, though it shows all that exists, it also shows what we tend to forget, the people who are actually trying to make an honest living.

So here is my next question, where do sterotypes come from? Does it spawn from thin air, does someone just decided to make up one? NO, the truth of the fact is, it comes from what people see consistently from of a same culture, whites, blacks, browns, asians….and so on.  True, we as humans shouldn’t generalize a particular culture to be a certain way, but we as humans belonging to those cultures with the certain stereotype, should also acknowledge that there is truth to every stereo type.

So, we shouldn’t get angry at those who believe in these stereotypes, it’s just their ignorance getting the better of them.

Ignorance, i think that might be my next blog entry….

Love or hate yourself

So, here i am at work, thinking what it is that makes me happy, what it is that makes any of us happy? Is it our possessions, our salary satus, our image, our many groups of friends?  No matter what anyone said, we are all some what brainwashed by the media around us. We as a society have glorified everything that is wrong. Everywhere i go, i see people trying to be something that they aren’t.

You got guys/girls talking a bunch of BS, about who they know, what they do, how much they earn and what they’re wearing. The truth is, they don’t know anyone, they don’t really do what they say, they don’t earn as much as they say and they’re in a huge debt wearing what they are wearing.

You got professional hockey players going on strike because they want more money, hahaha. We can only wish to make a million and they are demanding several millions. I know they work hard and they deserve to be paid well and they do, talk about greed. I want to see those players find another job that would pay them even half the salary that they were getting.

What’s sad is that we might not necessarily want all those material things and we don’t want to talk about who we know and what we do or have to dress like we’re in some kind of fashion show, but it is to a point where we have to just to get anywhere in this society anymore.

This very obsession of status is the main cause for all the problems we have with ourselves. Ironic…

Littering

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

One huge thing that makes me proud to be a Canadian is that we spend countless amount of money to try to make this a better city. What am i talking about? Well, lets just start with the advertisment. I’ve recently enjoyed watching this commercial of this lady sitting by a water fountain beside some teenager, she then whips out a nailcutter and starts to cut her toe nails.  The message, It’s not right anywhere, Can the Litter.

Now, what i don’t understand is why people insist on littering, it gets me so upset.  I was on the bus when i witness some guy sitting down eating his patty and then when he was finished, he didn’t just simply put it on the ground for the poor bus driver to pick up, he threw it outside on the streets as the back doors opened for passengers to get off. Here i am thinking to myself, is it soo hard to just hold onto your trash until your stop, because we all know there is a trash can at every corner of any street where the TTC is running through.  Then, i see this other guys standing infront of a store on Yonge st. just before entering the store throw some wrapper on the streets. I’m thinking, could he of not asked the store associate if he could put his trash in their garbage, thats if he didn’t see the garbage bin that was infront of him outside. What a moron.

The only conclusion i have for this guy and any other person who litters , is that they are TRASH!!!

What can we do about this? I would throw it back at them and say the Trash belongs in one pile…
